Stores turned into collection centers, trucks in service of the cause, and a new way to multiply your impact.

On June 24, Venezuela faced one of the most difficult moments in its recent history: two back-to-back earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 severely impacted La Guaira, Caracas, and other regions across the north-central part of the country. But if this emergency has proven anything, it's that the solidarity of our people is stronger than any adversity.

From day one, IMECA — through I'm IMECA Foundation and IMECA Venezuela — activated all of its resources to join the response. And the community answered in a way that fills us with pride and hope.

Our stores became collection centers

Every IMECA store across the United States — in Florida, Texas, Georgia, and North Carolina — was set up as a collection and drop-off center for relief supplies. Thanks to the generosity of our customers, employees, and communities, we have received, sorted, and prepared a large volume of non-perishable food, water, hygiene products, medicine, and essential goods for direct shipment to Venezuela.

Our trucks joined the collective effort

In addition, IMECA made its fleet of trucks in the United States available to other companies and organizations looking to get their donations to Venezuela. Our trucks have served as transportation, carrying those supplies to Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), a Doral, Florida–based organization with specialized humanitarian aid logistics that, in coordination with the U.S. Department of State, operates cargo flights arriving in Venezuela daily.

The goal has always been the same: getting help to those who need it most, as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The next step: your monetary donation goes further, faster

The response has been so extraordinary that the sheer volume of supplies collected and shipments underway has created a bottleneck in the reception and distribution of aid inside Venezuela — a challenge currently shared by every organization taking part in this emergency.

That's why, in this new phase, I'm IMECA Foundation has enabled and is prioritizing monetary donations. And that's great news, because it allows us to do even more:

Our extensive presence through IMECA Venezuela allows us to put every donation to work immediately, purchase the most needed supplies on the ground — based on the real priorities of each community at any given moment — and guarantee direct delivery to families.

It's also the recommendation of leading disaster response organizations: monetary contributions make it possible to act faster, purchase the right supplies within the region, and adapt as needs evolve.
